Ancient Indian Stone Statues
South India, North India
In the 10th century, Hindu culture faced the threat of destruction due to Muslim expansion southward, leading many sculptures to be buried underground to escape Muslim destruction, where they remained forgotten. When such sculptures are unearthed during activities like cultivation, they are often treated as mere statues rather than sacred idols. Konronsha houses a collection primarily centered around stone sculptures excavated in South India, including masterpieces from the Pallava and Chola dynasties (approximately 200 pieces).
